Kaiser Permanente Orange County Opens New Anaheim Medical Center

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Kaiser Permanente Orange County Anaheim Medical Center has opened a new, state-of-the-art 262-bed hospital, expanding its health care services to area members and bringing more jobs to the city of Anaheim. Designed with the patient in mind, the 434,000 square foot hospital combines cutting-edge technology with a peaceful, patient-centered, healing environment. The new Anaheim Medical Center, located on La Palma Avenue, replaces the current Kaiser Permanente Lakeview Hospital, which opened in 1979.

In addition to the 262-private rooms, the hospital features 36 emergency department treatment bays, 10 operating rooms, 10 labor and delivery rooms, 20 neonatal intensive care unit beds, a helistop for transporting trauma patients, and a parking structure with nearly 1,600 spaces.

The campus was designed to promote total health in a unique natural setting with a 3-acre Healing Garden as the centerpiece. Created to nurture patients and their families, the garden features water elements, abundant native and drought-resistant plants, walking paths and a serenity area for quiet reflection. This design is supported by evidence-based studies that show the positive influence of nature on the healing process.

“The new Anaheim Medical Center campus has been created as a ‘Sanctuary of Healing’ providing the very best in health care services,” said Julie Miller-Phipps, senior vice president and executive director, Kaiser Permanente Orange County. “It is our gift to our 455,000 Kaiser Permanente Orange County members and the communities we serve.”

The new medical center campus is home to a variety of specialty physicians who work with personal care teams to provide a full range of specialty services including:

Cardiology
General Surgery
Genetics
Infectious Disease
Nephrology
Neurosurgery
Adult and Pediatric Oncology
Urology

The Anaheim Medical Center represents a new generation of medical centers where innovation is built in from the start to support real-time, personalized, connected care. The Interactive Digital Experience uses digital media to engage patients, family and members, from way-finding displays and video-gaming walls to utilizing social media to share wellness messages. The fully-integrated Information Technology infrastructure provides campuswide Wi-Fi access. Kaiser Permanente’s industry-leading, electronic health record system, Kaiser Permanente HealthConnect®, is accessible at terminals next to each bed and at nursing stations, allowing providers to retrieve essential medical information immediately.

In addition to the hospital, the new Kaiser Permanente Orange County Anaheim Medical Center campus also includes Kraemer Medical Office Buildings 1 and 2. The entire campus is environmentally friendly, including green design and operational features such as energy-efficient lighting, and heating and cooling systems that take into account the health of the planet as well as patients.

“Kaiser Permanente Orange County combines the best of all worlds,” said Nancy Gin, MD, area medical director. “Our exceptional team of physicians, who are committed to providing members with the very best, are now supported by an innovative, high-tech Medical Center capable of the finest medical care today.”
