SUMMARY:Survivor at Every Stadium: Houston Texans
DESCRIPTION:Houston\, TX. H-town lung cancer survivor-advocate Barry Halley represented Team Draft at the NRG Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Barry and his wife\, Blanca\, watched the Houston Texans defeat the visiting Buffalo Bills in Overtime. #Wildcard #AFC #changingthefaceoflungcancer #lcsm  \nThanks Team Draft for the great time yesterday and taking us to the game. This definitely was the game you would want to see. Definitely not boring. Thank you! ~ Barry Halley \n \nIn 2012\, we launched our inaugural Team Draft Survivor Series initiative on CNN during a nationally-televised prime time special focusing on lung cancer and our National Campaign to Change the Face of Lung Cancer. Our Survivor at Every Stadium\, leverages our connections with the NFL\, its teams and players with our relationships with many of the top cancer centers in the country. As a part of our International Campaign\, the games allow us to celebrate our survivors\, raise awareness\, and give hope to those battling the disease\, as well as shine a light on the important work being done at cancer research and treatment centers around the country. \nTeam Draft’s goals are to create a unique experience for participating survivors and to raise awareness on a local\, national\, and international level by using each game and each survivor’s story to weave a broader narrative about the state of cancer and the hope that now exists for those battling the disease. \nOur 6th annual Lung Cancer Survivors Super Bowl Challenge kicked off on November 1\, 2019. The Challenge will concluded on December 30th at 3amEST\, but fundraising continues until February 3\, 2020. This unique fund raising challenge gives lung cancer survivors the opportunity to raise funds for public awareness and cutting-edge research that is giving new hope to those battling this often misunderstood disease. The top three fundraisers\, Angela Downs\, Lisa Moran\, and Team HOPE were announced on December 30\, 2019. Angela Downs will represent Team Draft at Super Bowl 54\, Lisa Moran will represent at the NFL Pro Bowl\, and Team HOPE will represent at the 29th Taste of the NFL. \nThe survivors earned the opportunity to share their powerful stories with key individuals with influence from across the country. \nThe lung cancer survivors that raise over $5\,000 will be able to designate a beneficiary (Cancer Center or LC Organization) that will receive 90% of their raised funds (-fees) and the remaining 10% will support Team Draft’s mission to change the face of lung cancer. \nSpecial thanks to the Houston Texans\, Astra Zeneca\, the NFL and all of our Team Draft supporters for helping make this event possible. \nDonate now to Support the National Campaign to Change the Face of Lung Cancer! \n \n

SUMMARY:Lahey Hospital & Medical Center
DESCRIPTION:In early November\, retired NFL linebacker Chris Draft visited the Healing Garden of the Sophia Gordon Cancer Center at Lahey Medical Center\, Peabody\, alongside Beth Israel Lahey Health clinicians to raise awareness about lung cancer and create a community for those who are caregivers\, and survivors.\nChris is a national spokesperson for The White Ribbon Project\, an international grassroots movement committed to changing public perception about lung cancer. He was joined by cancer survivor Lisa Haines\, a six-year survivor with Stage IV Non-Small Lung Cancer who has been treated at Lahey\, Addison Gilbert\, and Beverly Hospital. \n“In the past couple of years\, I have become an active patient advocate. My newest advocacy is being a part of The White Ribbon Project\,” Lisa shared. “I’m very lucky to now be stable and doing well\, thanks to many amazing medical professionals\, all part of Lahey.” \n“Seeing more patients survive from lung cancer due to early intervention is our mission\,” said Andrea McKee\, MD\, Radiation Oncology at LHMC. “That’s why from 2012 through 2016 Lahey offered the Rescue Lung\, Rescue Life community benefit CT lung screening program – to save lives and provide open access to those at high risk for lung cancer regardless of financial means. If you think you may be at high risk for lung cancer\, please speak to your doctor about screening.”\n#LungCancerAwarenessMonth
