SUMMARY:Tour Guy's Hospital Cancer Center
DESCRIPTION:London\, UK. Our co-founder\, Chris Draft\, toured the brand new Guy’s Hospital Cancer Center in London. \nThe new\, state-of-the-art Cancer Centre welcomed its first patients on 26 September 2016. \nThe new centre brings most of our cancer care under one roof\, alongside ground-breaking research and clinical trials\, helping us to improve cancer treatments and outcomes. \n \nWhy we built a new Cancer Centre\nAt Guy’s Cancer\, our vision is to be “a world leader in caring for people with cancer – continuously innovating to improve the lives of our patients”. \nThe new building was designed to help us deliver this vision through our three key aims to be: \n\npatient-centred – putting patients at the heart of our services so that they can access the best possible care and experience\nresearch-driven – helping our patients to benefit from cutting-edge research and the latest technologies\nclinically-led – our highly experienced staff strive to ensure that our cancer services are of the highest quality.\n\n\n\nTreating more patients\n\n\n\n\nBetter\, patient-centred care\n\n\n\n\nBetter training and research\n\n\nWatch our film\nWatch our film about why we built the new Cancer Centre at Guy’s. \n\n\n\nFunding the new Cancer Centre\nLargely funded by Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust\, the Cancer Centre at Guy’s was made possible by a grant of £25 million from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity and a £15 million grant awarded to King’s College London from the UK Research Partnership Investment Fund (managed by the Higher Education Funding Council) for a Research and Innovation Hub in the new centre. \nGuy’s and St Thomas’ Charity has also provided a grant of £1.7 million for a visual and performing arts programme – no NHS funds have been spent on the arts. \nPhilanthropists from across the UK\, US\, Hong Kong and Singapore have so far donated a further £6m to the new Cancer Centre\, including Dimbleby Cancer Care\, who donated £2m and who provide an information and support service in the new building. \nWe are exceptionally grateful to the more than 3\,000 generous patients\, families\, supporters and Trust staff who together raised an incredible £1.1million – by donating\, running\, cycling\, climbing\, abseiling\, baking and dancing – to help make the Cancer Centre a reality. \nFind out how you can support Guy’s Cancer and help our cancer patients receive the best possible care.

SUMMARY:Survivor at Every College Stadium: Arizona Wildcats
DESCRIPTION:Tucson\, AZ. University of Arizona lung cancer survivor-advocate Ron Crescenzo lead a group of local cancer survivors to the U of A football game on Saturday. The survivors watched the Arizona Wildcats take on the Stanford Cardinal\, with former Cardinal football player and CDFF Board member\, Kadar Hamilton. #BearDown #DesertSwarm\n \nIn 2012\, we\, Team Draft\, launched our inaugural Survivor Series initiative on CNN during a nationally-televised prime time special focusing on lung cancer and our National Campaign to Change the Face of Lung Cancer. \nOur Survivor at Every College Stadium\, leverages our connections with the NCAA\, its teams and players with our relationships with many of the top cancer centers in the country. As a part of our International Campaign\, the games allow us to celebrate our survivors\, raise lung cancer awareness\, and give hope to those battling the disease\, as well as shine a light on the important work being done at cancer research and treatment centers around the country. \n\nTeam Draft’s goals are to create a unique experience for participating survivors and to raise awareness on a local\, national\, and international level by using each game and each survivor’s story to weave a broader narrative about the state of cancer and the hope that now exists for those battling the disease. \nWe kicked off our 3rd Lung Cancer Survivors Super Bowl Challenge on November 1st\, 2016\, which builds on the success of our established Survivor Series by using the games at the heart of that initiative to create buzz for the Super Bowl Challenge and\, in turn\, funds for research and awareness. \nJOIN our Super Bowl Challenge: https://www.crowdrise.com/2017SuperBowlChallenge \n\n\nSpecial thanks to the University of Arizona Cancer Center\, Stanford Cardinal Football\, Kadar Hamilton and all of our Team Draft supporters for helping make this event possible. \nDonate now to Support the National Campaign to Change the Face of Lung Cancer!

SUMMARY:Survivor at Every Stadium: NFL UK
DESCRIPTION:Wembley\, England\, UK. Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Cancer Centre lung cancer survivor-advocates James Jukes and Tracy Gordon will represent Team Draft at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. The survivors watched the Washington Redskins play   the Cincinnati Bengals to a tie\, in the final NFL UK\, game of the 2016 season in London. The survivors were joined by our co-founder and former Washington Redskin\, Chris Draft\, and CDFF Board member\, Bill Nash. \nTracy Gordon \nI am very excited about the game. Hopefully the weather will be great. As for lung cancer yes I am very open minded to a change because I feel sufferers are cheated and don’t get a fair chance to fight this nasty disease. Looking at Keasha it breaks my heart because like me she looks like someone who loved and enjoyed life. She was struck down and is now gone too soon\, I am trying to be positive but i am only human and can’t help thinking about dying and leaving my boys I am all they have\, it’s always been a team of 4 and now they are struggling with the thought of losing me.Anyway I don’t need pity because I am determined to fight\, to raise awareness and to live as long as is possible. \nI never one day thought I would have this lung disease but as we know anyone can have it. No matter how healthy you are. \nIn 2012\, we\, Team Draft\, launched our inaugural Survivor at Every Stadium initiative on CNN during a nationally-televised prime time special focusing on lung cancer and our National Campaign to Change the Face of Lung Cancer. \nLeveraging our connections with the NFL\, its teams and players and our relationships with many of the top cancer centers in the country\, As part of our National Campaign\, this celebration of survivorship raises lung cancer awareness\, gives hope to those battling the disease\, and shines a light on the important work being done at cancer research and treatment centers around the country. \nTeam Draft’s goals are to create a unique experience for participating survivors and to raise awareness on a local\, national\, and international level by using each game and each survivor’s story to weave a broader narrative about the state of cancer and the hope that now exists for those battling the disease. \nJimmy Jukes \nWe met in London on Saturday morning as strangers and parted company tonight has friends.\nChris and Billy thank you for today\nAnd thank you for what your foundation is doing for us cancer survivor’s. \nMy hat is off to you both.\nSafe journey back over the pond \nSpecial thanks to the NFL\, NFL UK\, Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Cancer Centre\, Dr. Rohat Lal\, Astra-Zeneca and our Team Draft supporters for helping make this experience possible. \nDonate now to Support the National Campaign to Change the Face of Lung Cancer! \n  \n \n
